Home Introduction Open House Parent Conferences Written and Electronic Communication Telephone Tips When There's A Problem How to Increase Family Participation Creative Connections with Families Stories from the Field

I really never gave much thought to how I would communicate with the parents of my students-----until my first Open House. I was so nervous about having to talk in front of an adult group that I resorted to reading from note cards and sounding very formal. I also thought that every contact with parents would be about a problem. As the year progressed, I have learned how to be more comfortable talking with parents and also found other ways of keeping them involved with what is going on in my classroom. I'm already planning how next year's Open House and parent conferences will be better.
