  • Find out the times of the event, the procedures to be followed and specifically how much time you will be with the parents in your classroom.

  • Ask about any announcements or handouts the administration will be providing for parents at the event or expect you to take care of during your time with parents.

  • Think about what you would most like parents to know about your classroom. Jot down a few notes now and put them in a place where you can add to them as the date approaches.

  • Look at the physical aspects of your classroom and determine if any changes could improve its appearance. This doesn't mean that you need a designer makeover for your classroom, but it does mean you may need to make a few changes so that your classroom reflects what is going on with you and your students.

  • Think about how you might effectively highlight examples of student work.

  • Imagine what questions the parents might have that you can address in your remarks to them (such as homework policy, grading, making up missed work, etc.).
