Sample Note to Returning Teacher

November 10, 2005

Dear Mr. Turner,

I enjoyed your fifth grade students today. My favorite activity with them was the large mammal investigation lesson you provided for Science. They really responded well to the group work and follow-up discussion. Most of the students were able to complete their work in reading, but we did not have sufficient time in Math to complete the lesson. I have noted in your lesson plan which sections we were able to finish. I appreciated your suggestion to allow Jeremiah and Lauren to assist me today; they were great in helping to continue the routine you have established.

I was unable to find the key to the closet where the students said their Social Studies projects were kept. Since we could not work on those, I asked the students to take turns describing to the class their individual projects and what they needed to do to complete them. We spent the remaining time in Social Studies reading and discussing the optional activity you provided.

Thanks again for allowing me to meet and work with your students.

Sincerely,

Allison Morris
