When you decided to become a teacher you probably never thought you'd have to be a manager did you? Classroom management is all about how you lead and how you organize your class. It can include:
- Time Management
- Organization
- Discipline
- Your Relationship with the Administration
- Preparation
There are many ways of managing and everybody is different. In fact, your style of managing will probably change quite a bit as you gain experience teaching.
As a new teacher your style will be partly determined by your own personality and your comfort levels with the different aspects of managing. For instance, you might be excellent at discipline and less proficient with time management. Your own style will also be affected by decisions you make regarding how you want to operate your classroom and the results you want to achieve. As you develop experience in teaching, your unique management style will naturally emerge and you will build your own successful repertoire of responses to all types of situations.
