"My first year teaching I taught third grade. I was so unprepared each day that I was always putting together everything I would need the night before each class. Because I never planned in advance, I was constantly spending extra hours just trying to get ready for the next day. I even dragged my husband in to help me on weekends. I felt like I was drowning, until I finally got some control over my planning about halfway into the year. I'm ashamed to say though, that I was still not really organized enough to file and keep things I would need later. The next year, I had to recreate so much material that I had already done previously, but had failed to keep. That convinced me to finally get organized so I wouldn't have to do it a third time!"
